Position Description

Job Summary (Purpose of Job): This position is responsible for the mechanical repairs and services on a full line of heavy equipment and attachments. The technician will perform maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on the full line of Volvo Construction Equipment machinery and/or related equipment brands.  This includes equipment components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and computers, electrical and structural repairs including welding.  Additional duties include the ability to provide consistent communication with customers, vendors, internal and external staff. Will regularly demonstrate safe and proper judgement and application of all tools and equipment.  Champion a “Safety First”, Customer Focused” and a continuous improvement culture.

 Main Tasks/ Responsibilities / Authorities:

  • Work safely at all times.  Adhere to all VCES applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company

policies, procedures, standards and values.

  • Service and repair work for this position will only be performed in the shop
  • Knowledge and proficiency in diagnosing, testing and repairing heavy equipment and related machinery.
  • Understanding of basic repair diagrams and schematics
  • Ability to complete and submit service reports using detailed descriptions as directed.
  • Provide professional repair guidance to customers regarding their equipment problems and or options to fix those problems.
  • Perform mechanical repairs and service on the full line of products represented by VCES
  • Ability to work on or around heavy construction equipment, which requires climbing and accessing hard to reach areas
  • Consistent follow through on all job facets
  • Capable of working independently or in a team, as directed.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on construction, automotive, agriculture, or mechanical related equipment
  • Prior experience in the construction equipment industry preferred
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Must possess a set of tools sufficient to perform the job as required
  • Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Willingly accepts responsibility and is flexible to any assignment
  • Willingly works over time when needed to complete an assigned task

Field Service Technician

Position Description

Job Summary and Purpose:

The Parts Representative is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers in a team environment through telephone communications, electronic communications, and over the counter customer facing transactions. The responsibility of the service writer position is to perform administrative support to the Service Department. The service writer will be organized, a self-starter and an effective communicator that will maintain consistent and clear interactions with all department staff, customers, vendors, and management.

•    Assist with the coordination of work order completeness for internal and external customers, as directed.
•    Adhere to safety and health precautions as outlined within VCES publications.
•    Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position:
•    Must have at a minimum, a High School diploma or equivalent with 2-3 years of experience as an administrative or office assistant.
•    Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college in business administration or a related field is highly desired.
•    2-3 years of experience with warranty, sales or vehicle repair or maintenance work orders is highly preferred.

Rental Coordinator

Position Description – 136312BR

Job Summary and Purpose: Provide coordination for the Rental and Sales Departments to accomplish annual goals and objectives. Establish a system of quality controls for the Rental/Sales Departments. Comply with all company policies and procedures.  Maintain good working relationships and open lines of communication between employees, other departments, clients and management.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities: (Include but not limited to the following.)
•    Operation and coordination of the branch’s rental/sales/admin departments
•    Develop rental business by calling on customer accounts, including field calls
•    Financial accountability for the profitability of the rental department
•    Maintain the rental fleet, including inventory, freight, requests for service, etc.
•    Responsible for flow of all sales documentation for the branch, including the invoice process, sales files, sales financing, etc.
•    Follow up on customer concerns and complaints in regards to the rental dept.
•    Ensure all rental/sales information is current.
•    Answer phones, some general branch admin duties
•    Review departments’ performance with the Branch Manager on a weekly/monthly basis.
•    Ensure proper safety procedures and flow of documentation.
•    Communicate with service and parts departments and other branches.

Field Service Technician

Position Description – 136587BR

This position is responsible for the mechanical repairs and services on a full line of heavy equipment products. The technician will perform highly technical maintenance, diagnoses and troubleshooting on full line of Volvo Construction Equipment machinery and/or related equipment including equipment components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, computer, electrical and structural repairs including welding.  Additional duties include the ability to provide consistent communication with customers, vendors, internal and external staff. Will regularly demonstrate safe and proper judgement and application of all tools and equipment. Champion a “Safety First”, “Customer Focused” and continuous improvement culture.

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities / Authorities:
•    Work safely at all times.  Adhere to al VCES applications safely policies. Comply with all
Company policies, procedures, standards and values.
•    Knowledge and proficiency in diagnosing, testing and repairing heavy equipment and related machinery.
•    Comprehensive understanding and ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics on Volvo product lines and systems.
•    Ability to timely complete and submit work orders and warranty claims with detailed description as directed.
•    Provide professional customer service to customers about their equipment problems and or options to fix those problems.
•    Responsible for the confirmation of the equipment function after repair.
•    Ability to provide telephone support to the customer in order to perform troubleshooting, as directed.
•    Will exhibit appropriate diligence of all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
•    Capable of working independently or in a team, as directed.
•    Must have flexibility to work overtime and occasionally stay overnight to complete assigned task, as needed.
•    Must have all tools necessary to perform the required work and must maintain and secure them at all times.
•    Performs other duties as directed

Required Knowledge and Experience:
•    High School diploma or GED
•    Minimum of 5 years’ experience working on construction related equipment
•    Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft products.
•    Possesses a valid California Driver’s License and a good driving record.
•    Frequent travel.

Physical Requirements (e.g. mobility):
•    Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
•    Requires prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing and frequent stooping, bending, crouching and overhead reaching; with occasional climbing of stairs and steps or step-ladder.
•    Requires occasional lifting, pulling, caring, or pushing objects or materials, over 50lbs; and may frequently lifting, pulling, caring, or pushing objects or materials, up to 30lbs.
